Inverted Nipples

Inverted nipples can lead to various types of discomfort. A procedure to correct inverted nipples not only makes a significant aesthetic difference but also offers substantial practical benefits.

Correcting inverted nipples is a simple procedure, and those who come to us are extremely satisfied with the final result.

With inverted nipples, you may eventually suffer from eczema due to dirt accumulating in the skin. This also makes breastfeeding considerably more difficult, while many women feel that their breasts are no longer as attractive. We have extensive experience with this procedure, and we are happy to assist you.

How does the surgery work?

We always aim to offer our patients the best possible results that meet their expectations. However, we must consider that all breasts are different, which means everyone has different conditions. During your consultation, we will review your initial situation and discuss how we can best help you. Feel free to bring pictures of nipples that match how you want yours to look after the procedure.

During the consultation, you will receive a thorough overview of the different methods used in the surgery, the risks involved, and what results are reasonable. We will also conduct a health examination to ensure there are no obstacles to the surgery proceeding smoothly. If you feel comfortable with everything, you can schedule a time for the surgery afterward.

Correcting inverted nipples is a relatively simple procedure, and many of the women who come to us are extremely satisfied with the final result. The different methods vary mainly in whether we cut only the short connective tissue strands by making small incisions around the nipples. This way, you do not lose the ability to breastfeed. This method is primarily used for women who have difficulty breastfeeding due to their inverted nipples.

In cases where the main focus is on the aesthetic aspect, we can also use a method where parts of the milk ducts are removed. This gives us more flexibility to make more significant changes to the appearance of the nipples, but you will completely lose the ability to breastfeed. Therefore, this technique is very rarely recommended for women who do not already have children.

The surgery typically takes about an hour. The procedure is so minor that general anesthesia is not required; local anesthesia and possibly a sedative are sufficient. You do not need to stay overnight at the clinic and can go home a short while after the operation.

Our patients rarely experience any pain after the operation and often manage with mild pain relievers such as paracetamol. You can return to your daily routine and work immediately after the procedure. However, we always recommend that you take it easy with exercise and strenuous physical activities until the wounds have healed.

Combining procedures

You can consider combining the nipple correction procedure with other surgeries like breast augmentation or a breast lift. This approach can streamline your journey to achieving your desired appearance and reduce overall recovery time. During your consultation, we’ll discuss the feasibility and benefits of combining procedures to ensure the best outcome.

A follow-up visit is scheduled a little over a week after the procedure to remove the stitches and check the healing process.

Complications and poor results

Thanks to our extensive experience and the nature of the procedure, there is no direct risk of complications or issues resulting from correcting inverted nipples. However, you should always be aware of the complications associated with all types of surgery.

The primary concerns are infection or scarring due to poor wound healing. Naturally, we provide you with all the knowledge you need to minimize the risk of any complications from your surgery. By following your plastic surgeon’s instructions regarding hygiene, smoking, and alcohol consumption, the risks associated with this operation are extremely low.

Depending on the method used, there is a small risk that your nipples may revert to their inverted state. If this happens, a corrective surgery will be required, which we will perform at no additional cost. Should this occur, please contact our clinic, and we will schedule a new appointment for you.
